Paul Boag has been working on the web since 1993. He is a user experience consultant for Headscape Ltd, a web design agency that he founded back in 2002. Paul also produces and hosts the longest running and popular web design podcast at boagworld. He is regularly speaker at conferences and author of the Website Owners Manual.
Daniel Burka is the creative director of Digg and is one of three cofounders of Pownce. He is also one of the founders of the Canadian company Silverorange where he worked on various projects including branding and user interface design for Mozilla. At Digg, Daniel works with Kevin Rose to evolve concepts into a cohesive user experience. Enabling the site's vibrant user community participate on the site is a constant challenge as the site grows and changes. Daniel also designs the user experience for Pownce and works with Leah Culver and Kevin on feature development.
Hillman Curtis is a designer, filmmaker, and author whose company hillmancurtis, inc. has designed sites for Yahoo, Adobe, The Metropolitan Opera, Aquent, the American Institute of Graphic Design, Paramount and Fox Searchlight Pictures among others. His film work includes the popular documentary series “Artist Series”, as well as award winning short films. His commercial film work includes spots for Rolling Stone, Adobe, Sprint, Blackberry and BMW. His three books on design and film have sold close to 150 thousand copies and have been translated into 14 languages. Hillman’s work has been featured in design publications worldwide, and has been honored with The One Show Gold, Silver, and Bronze, The Webby, Communication Arts Award of Excellence, and the South by Southwest Best of Show, amongst others. Hillman lectures extensively on design and film related subjects throughout Europe, Asia and the USA.
Liz Danzico is equal parts information architect, usability analyst, and editor. Today, Liz spends her days in Brooklyn where she organises information of all shapes and sizes. She is forthcoming Chair of the new MFA in Interaction Design Program, starting in fall 2009 at the school of Visual Arts in New York. She is an independent consultant in New York and experience director for Happycog, editor for Rosenfeld Media, a publisher of user experience books, editor-in-chief for A Brief Message, 200 words or less about design, board member of AIGA/New York, and an advisory board member of the Information Architecture Institute.
Graphic designer Nicholas Felton spends much of his time thinking about data, charts and our daily routines. He is the author of several personal annual reports that collate countless measurements of his year into a rich collection of graphs and maps reflecting the travel, photography, music, food, drink and reading contained in the year. He is the co-founder of Daytum and a recent recipient of the Art Director's Club Young Guns award for his personal work feltron and his studio commissions mgfn.
Patrick Haney is not a sausage. He is however a User Interface Designer at Harvard University who is passionate about the world of design and how it translates to the web. Patrick is also a member of the Web Standards Group and heads up Refresh Boston, an informal gathering of web professionals in the greater Boston area that meet to discuss web design and development, focusing on standards and the user experience.

Nick La is a freelance illustrator/designer and web design blogger. He is the influence behind the popular blog Web Designer Wall and Best Web Gallery. Nick is the founder of N.Design Studio, a small Toronto based design studio whose client list include: Adobe, PBS (WIRED Science), Canada National Post, and Web Designer (magazine). His work is regularly featured in design publications such as: Computer Arts, Web Designer, Practical Web Design, DIGIT, and Web Design Index.
Chris has been in front of a computer way too much since he graduated from college. He has over ten years' experience with web development, with a strong background in development, system administration, and network and system security. He is currently working for (mt) Media Temple, the leading web hosting company for creative professionals. He has co-authored four books on the PHP scripting language, and has spoken at events such as SXSW, the 451 Group's symposium on Grid Computing, and the first ever Carson workshop back in 2005.
Dan Mall is the Interactive Director at Happy Cog. Working for a range of clients from Fortune 500 companies to mom-'n'-pop shops, Dan has a passion for playing matchmaker between engaging art direction and intuitive interaction design. When not at work, Dan enjoys being a newlywed, being a technical editor for A List Apart, singing/playing keyboards for contemporary-Christian band, Four24, and writing about design and other issues on his industry-recognized site, danielmall.com.
Named one of the top 40 “Industry Influencers” of 2007 by Folio Magazine, Derek Powazek is the cofounder of JPG, the photography magazine that’s made by its community, and cofounder 8020 Publishing, the company that grew out of its success. Derek has worked the web since 1995 at pioneering sites like HotWired, Blogger, and Technorati, and is the author of “Design for Community: The Art of Connecting Real People in Virtual Places” (New Riders, 2001). Derek now splits his time between working as a social media consultant, advising a handful of startups, editing Fray, the quarterly book of true stories and original art, and his newest venture, Pixish. Derek lives in San Francisco with his wife, two nutty Chihuahuas, a grumpy cat, and a house full of plants named Fred.
Ryan is the lead designer for Virb, a small company with happy minions scattered across the United States of America. He is widely recognized for his ability to weave typography, color, and layout into a classic yet unique design style, examples of which you'll find on virb.com, purevolume.com, justwatchthesky.com and thebignoob.com .
Ryan designed websites freelance with an eye for usability and simplicity before joining 37signals in 2003. Within his first year, the company began work on Basecamp and transitioned from a design consultancy to a product company. Ryan's innovative interface designs have since set a standard for web application usability and style. He lives in Chicago with his wife and french bulldog.
Steve is a recognized authority on front-end development and interface design. He is an entrepreneur, founding Ordered List, and co-founding Sidebar Creative, both of which are outlets for his professional work. And as an author, public speaker, and University of Notre Dame professor, he is passionate about sharing his knowledge with others. He lives in South Bend, Indiana with his wife and two children. In the rare times he's not working, he's either on the golf course, making home-brewed beer, or spending time with the family.

After having taught high school English, edited copy for an advertising agency, and owned a coffee house, Karl Swedberg began his career as a web developer three years ago. He now works for Fusionary Media in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where he specializes in client-side scripting and interaction design. Karl is an "Evangelist" for the jQuery JavaScript Library and the co-author of two books, Learning jQuery and jQuery Reference Guide.
KHOI VINH is the Design Director for NYTimes.com, where he leads a full design team in user experience innovation. Khoi is also the author of the popular Subtraction.com, a weblog that he began writing in late 2000 and continues to update frequently. He also holds a seat on the board of directors at AIGA New York and was a founding partner at the groundbreaking design studio Behavior LLC.
Born and raised in Mexico City, Armin is a graphic designer and writer now living in Brooklyn, New York. He has written for AIGA's VOICE, Emigre, Eye, Creative Review, HOW, and STEP magazines, among others. He is a former faculty member of Portfolio Center and the School of Visual Arts. He has lectured on topics ranging from typography to branding in locations ranging from San Diego to Berlin. He is co-founder of UnderConsideration, which oversees three blogs, one wiki, one design firm and two cats. Armin spent more than two years with Pentagram before running UnderConsideration full time with his wife and partner Bryony. Together they recently published The Women of Design book and are hard at work on the comprehensive Graphic Design Referenced to be published in 2009. He has designed four and a quarter different portfolio web sites over the course of ten years.
